Visual Arts

Students from Year 1 to Year 6 are given the opportunity to experience the special knowledge and skills contained in a specialist Visual Arts Program.

These students participate in a one hour session per week in a purpose built Art room.

The program encourages students to participate and generate art works that communicate their own ideas. Students learn to respond, reflect and evaluate art works of their own and others. Where possible, classroom themes are used as a stimulus. A unit of work generally covers a ten week term with each student completing a 2D and 3D art work. A positive, happy and respectful environment allows all students to strive for excellence.

Students create works in visual art forms such as drawing, design, painting, colour media, collage, mixed media, printmaking, textiles, ceramics, modelling, sculpture and 3D construction.

They will study and use the skills, techniques, processes, conventions and technologies of the Arts. Elements of art such as colour, texture, shape, form, space and pattern will be examined.
