Como Primary School Board – 2024

Robert Marshall
Principal

It was my privilege to join Como Primary School last year. The 2024 school year marks my 20th year in education, and my 11th in school leadership.

I firmly believe that every child can be successful, and that the partnership between home and school plays a key role in building confidence and value in learning, and empowering students to be active and engaged citizens. The School Board plays an important role in strengthening this partnership.

I look forward to working with our Como Primary School Board this year to build on our school’s existing strengths as we continue our school’s improvement journey, always striving for ONLY OUR BEST.

Sophie Millson
Chairperson / Staff Representative

I began my career at Como Primary School as a relief teacher, before winning a full-time position in 2020. 2024 marks my fifth year at Como Primary School, and after four year teaching middle primary, I will be taking time away this year as I welcome my first child.

As an educator, I am committed to exceeding expectations and ensuring children are supported to reach their full potential in all facets of their schooling, including academic achievements, sporting endeavours and in their individual pursuits of creative and social growth. In addition to being a classroom teacher, I have been the STEAM Lead Teacher and served on the ICT Management Committee. In 2023, I led the change and update of our BYOD Policy to ensure greater safety for students when using digital devices and to empower parents to gain greater control. I also worked to develop our updated school website to better promote our school and to allow greater accessibility for our growing multi-cultural community.

As a member of the School Board I intend to be an advocate and a representative for the staff I am fortunate to work alongside, and for the students we are honoured to teach.

Maryann Tsai

I was born in Taiwan and migrated to Perth when I was 10 years old. I have one child at Como Primary and I have enjoyed being part of the school community. I have been a class representative for the kindy group, volunteered in the school canteen, assisted with reading and have been a parent helper within the classroom. These duties have given me the opportunity to meet and engage with parents, staff and students.

I have a Bachelor degree in Engineering (major in Information Technology) with honors from the University of Western Australia. I have worked in the private sector for 8 years as a corporate account manager in various industries managing client accounts and dealing with clients on a daily basis. I have also had the opportunity to run projects and manage a small team. In addition, I have worked in the public sector for the Department of Workforce and Training for 6 years in various roles dealing with students and staff on a daily basis.

I’m currently the founder/CEO of Reach Her Inc – a non-profit organisation. I enjoy volunteering at the school and being part of the School Board. I hope to bring my various experiences to the School Board.
